Dominating Your Farm Area on a Beer Budget
How do you compete with the big guys that have an unlimited budget? These agents will spend $2,000 – $3,000 dollars a month direct mailing up to 1,500 residents twice a month. This 24-Touch Annual Campaign is highly effective because residents in their farm areas are constantly being exposed to these agents.
So, how can you compete against heavy-hitters when you’re on a beer budget? The answer is simple. Use the US Postal Service’s Every Door Direct Mail® Program. At 14.5¢ per piece, the price is unbeatable. Here’s how the program works:
Let’s say you have 1,000 people in your farm area.
- Identify what it is that you want to mail. Newsletters, market updates, “Just Listed” postcards, “Just Sold” postcards or special event calendars are all acceptable.
- Get quotes from printing companies, keeping in mind that in some areas, newspaper publishers are so desperate for business, that you can have 1,000 multi-colored, double-sided mailers printed for under $100!
- When printing the mailings, be sure to place the Every Door Direct Mail® special code on each piece to be delivered.
- Once the mailers are printed, they must be bundled in packs of 100 and delivered to the local post office. You pay the 14.5¢ cents per piece when you drop them off.
This is an ideal program for a farm area especially because the mail carrier must deliver to every residence in the area. With a printing cost of 10¢ and a mailing cost of 14.5¢ per piece, the 1,000-piece campaign will only cost you $245 dollars. If you split the cost with another agent, you could mail twice a month and have constant exposure to your farm area. For best results, be sure to follow the instructions given in the link below, or discuss the program with your local US Postal Service representative. Congratulations, you’ll now be perceived by your farm area’s residents as the big dog in real estate!
